Abortion Ship's Mission in Mexico Until April 23, 2017

En colaboración con organizaciones locales y nacionales, el barco de Women on Waves (Mujeres sobre las olas) llegó a México. Hoy inició su campaña y ya navega en aguas internacionales donde atiende a mujeres con hasta nueve semanas de embarazo que desean realizarse un aborto.

The Women on Waves ship has arrived in Mexico, where women are already on board receiving free, legal medical abortions up until 9 weeks of pregnancy. Anyone needing help can call 7559800548. The ship will be receiving women until Sunday April 23 2017.

Abortion is only legal in Mexico after sexual violence, with each state having differing legal grounds for abortion. Effective access is not a given, even when it’s legal.

Mexican women may cross the country to get to Mexico City, where women can receive abortions on demand – this service has been available for a decade.

Anyone who cannot afford to travel may seek an illegal abortion and risk not only prosecution or prison, but their health.
