Understanding diabetes and an itchy, yeasty vagina

TL;DR

Women with uncontrolled diabetes may experience persistent yeast infections due to higher blood sugar levels feeding vaginal yeast. Many are unaware of their diabetic or pre-diabetic state, continuously treating symptoms without addressing the root cause. Understanding the link between blood sugar levels and yeast infections is crucial for effective treatment and overall health.

Yeast infections can be rife in women with uncontrolled diabetes, because higher blood sugar feeds the yeast in the vagina. Many women don’t know they have diabetes or a pre-diabetic insulin-resistant state of body, so may be continually treating yeast infections that never seem to disappear.

It is worth considering getting reliable blood sugar testing if you suffer repeated yeast infections without resolution. Untreated diabetes is dangerous.
