At My Vagina, we believe that diversity and inclusivity strengthen the quality and relevance of our content. Vulvovaginal health is experienced by people from many different backgrounds, and our editorial approach reflects this reality.
Language and inclusivity
We are committed to using respectful, inclusive, and non-stigmatising language across all editorial content. We acknowledge that most people with vaginas are women, but also recognise that not everyone with a vagina identifies as female. We aim to reflect this diversity without diminishing the language and experiences of women.
Some of our earlier content was published before these wording and social shifts became widely recognised. We are updating older articles over time as resources allow.
Representation of experiences
We include a wide range of perspectives where appropriate, reflecting different identities, life stages, and cultural backgrounds. We present conditions as medical issues, not moral failings, and avoid framing that could contribute to shame or stigma.
Where we use case examples or discuss lived experiences, we take care to ensure these are representative and respectful.
Accessibility and readability
Our content is written to be clear, understandable, and enjoyable to read. While we use correct medical terminology, we explain terms in plain language where needed. We aim for a balance between scientific accuracy and a natural, human voice — people writing for people.
Formatting, structure, and tone are chosen to make our information accessible to the widest possible audience.
Images and illustrations
When we use images, diagrams, or illustrations, we strive to ensure they are diverse, representative, and do not reinforce harmful stereotypes.
Updating and accountability
We periodically review published content to ensure that it reflects our diversity commitments. Readers are encouraged to share feedback if they feel our language or representations could be improved. Feedback can be submitted via our contact form and will be handled in line with our feedback policy.
Commitment
Our aim is to provide information that is accurate, inclusive, and respectful of the full diversity of people who experience vulvovaginal health conditions. We know that language and expectations continue to evolve, and we are committed to listening, learning, and improving.
