At My Vagina, our work is guided by strong ethical principles. As healthcare practitioners and communicators, we recognise our responsibility to act with integrity, protect patient safety, and serve the best interests of our readers and customers.
Our values
We are guided by the following values in all of our work:
Integrity — we are transparent and honest in our communications.
Inclusivity — we recognise and respect the diversity of people who may experience vulvovaginal health conditions.
Patient safety — we prioritise the health and wellbeing of readers and patients above all else.
Innovation — we invest in new approaches to vulvovaginal care, drawing on science, clinical experience, and product development.
Best interests — we act in line with our obligations as healthcare practitioners, always working in the best interests of those who rely on our information and products.
Evidence and clinical experience
Our content is built on two foundations:
Scientific research — we make extensive use of peer-reviewed literature and reference it transparently.
Clinical experience — our naturopathic vulvovaginal clinic has been operating for more than a decade, giving us a unique perspective on what works in practice.
We make it clear when we are sharing our own perspectives or experience, using phrases such as “Here at My Vagina’s clinic” or “In our clinical experience”. This ensures readers can distinguish between published research and our professional insights.
We also contribute to the evidence base by producing our own research and sharing our findings with the wider medical and scientific community.
Conflicts of interest
We openly acknowledge that My Vagina develops and sells its own range of products. This product line began as a practical solution to meet patient needs. In the early days of our clinic, we would send patients away with instructions to source ingredients and prepare remedies themselves. Over time, it became clear that the most ethical and efficient solution was to produce these formulations ourselves, ensuring safety, consistency, and effectiveness.
Our products are created, tested, and refined through ongoing clinical use. They are constantly updated as we learn more about improving patient outcomes, tolerability, and efficacy.
We only stock products that we use ourselves and recommend in clinic. We work only with reputable brands that meet our standards for quality and safety.
Educational content and commercial content are kept distinct, so readers can trust that our advice is not influenced by sales.
Respect for readers
We treat all readers with respect and dignity. Our content uses inclusive, accurate, and compassionate language. We avoid assumptions about identity, relationships, or anatomy.
Sensitive topics such as pregnancy loss, infections, or cancer are handled with care and seriousness.
Privacy and dignity
We respect the privacy of anyone who communicates with us. Information submitted through our contact form is treated confidentially, and personal details are not shared without explicit consent.
Commercial integrity
We maintain a clear separation between editorial and commercial content. No advertising or commercial arrangement will override the accuracy of our health information or compromise patient safety.
Accountability
We are accountable to our readers and patients. Our ethics policy works alongside our editorial publishing principles and our feedback policy. Together, these documents set out how we create content, how we correct mistakes, and how we act on feedback.
Commitment
Our ethical commitments are not static. As the field of vulvovaginal healthcare advances, we will continue to review and refine our practices. Our goal is to ensure that My Vagina remains a trusted, innovative, and ethical source of care and information.
