Actinotignum schaalii in the genitourinary tract (formerly Actinobaculum schaalii)

Cause of urinary tract infections (UTI) in older adults, often misdiagnosed due to problems isolation and identification of species. Naturally resistant to two most commonly used antibiotics for UTI​1​.

Can be dangerous for the elderly and those with underlying conditions​2​.

Found in urine, pus, blood and sperm cultures​3​.
