Klebsiella pneumoniae urinary tract and vulvovaginal infections

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a cause of urinary tract infections and can contribute to vulvovaginitis (aerobic vaginitis), amongst other human infections.

Klebsiella species are highly antibiotic-resistant, opportunistic and virulent. Klebsiella pneumoniae survive best in an oxygen-rich environment but can survive without (facultative anaerobe).
