Upskilling
Most practitioners leave training with very little practical strategies for understanding and managing BV - and even less on AV. Yet these are two of the most common vaginal complaints your patients will bring to clinic.
Antibiotics fail half the time. A naturopathic framework for treating BV hasn't existed until now. And the two conditions are so frequently confused that the wrong treatment is routine.
So you do what every sensible practitioner does: ask a colleague! Then, when you have the time, try to piece it together from research papers, patient feedback, online resources and educated guessing. It works, sometimes. And when it doesn't, you're not sure why.
Here's the truth: BV and AV aren't difficult because you're missing information. They're difficult because no one has given you a framework - a way of thinking about what's actually happening in the vaginal environment, and why.
That's what this program is.
Once you know what's wrong, you can start addressing the real issues and get your patients feeling better faster.
A framework, not a protocol
The BV & AV Clinical Intensive is six sessions of structured teaching and live case discussion, covering everything from foundational biology to treatment protocols to recurrence management.
You'll leave with a clinical framework that applies to every patient you see with these conditions — not a script, but a way of thinking that makes BV and AV feel manageable.
For all Practitioners
Full treatment spectrum
Pharmaceutical and naturopathic treatments covered together. Whether you're a GP, nurse, naturopath, nutritionist - the content is built for you.
Cross-disciplinary cohort
You'll learn alongside practitioners from different backgrounds. GPs and naturopaths in the same room is genuinely rare — and one of the most valuable parts of this program.
Small group
12 practitioners per cohort. Enough for rich discussion, small enough that everyone gets heard.
Live case discussion
The final session is built around cases your cohort brings — real patients, real complexity, group mentoring.
Taught by a specialist
Jessica Lloyd has spent over a decade in clinical practice and research focused specifically on BV and AV. This isn't a broad women's health program with a module on BV. This is the focus.
A framework, not a protocol
You won't leave with a script to memorise. You'll leave with a way of thinking about the vaginal environment that applies to every BV and AV patient who walks in.
Who is this for?
This program is for you if:
- You're a GP, naturopath, nurse, midwife, or allied health practitioner
- Your patients present with BV or AV — recurrent cases, confusing cases, cases that don't respond
- You've felt uncertain about how to diagnose, treat, or explain these conditions
- You want to understand the why behind what you're already doing
- You'd like to expand your treatment options — whether that means adding naturopathic tools or understanding how pharmaceuticals fit into a whole-body approach
No prior specialist knowledge required.
What the course covers
Each session is one hour: 40 minutes of structured teaching, 20 minutes of live Q&A.
The conceptual framework that underpins everything. Why BV and AV feel harder than they should, what the research actually says about the "healthy" vaginal microbiome, and why a functional medicine lens changes the clinical picture.
How to tell what you're looking at — and what you're not. The full range of BV and AV presentations beyond the textbook picture, key differentials to rule out, and how to use symptoms as clinical clues.
The conditions that allow BV to develop — and why the answer is often not where you'd expect. Sex and partner treatment, hormones and glycogen, contraception, stress, gut and mouth translocation, biofilms, and the unusual cases that change how you think.
AV is a fundamentally different biological process from BV, and its drivers reflect that. The inflammatory cascade, oestrogen deficiency and atrophy, immune dysfunction, the mouth–AV connection, and managing the mixed BV/AV picture.
When to test and what you're actually seeing in the results. The vaginal absorption framework, herbs and oils to avoid, pharmaceutical options for both conditions, naturopathic protocols for BV and AV, and adapting treatment to patient tolerance.
Recurrence is information, not failure. When to switch strategy, how to think wider instead of treating harder, the mixed picture, and live case discussion from your cohort.
About Jessica Lloyd
Jessica Lloyd is a vulvovaginal specialist naturopath and the founder of myvagina.com — one of the world's most comprehensive clinical resources on vaginal health.
She has spent over a decade specialising in BV and AV, in clinical practice and through building educational and product resources used by patients and practitioners worldwide. She came to this subject not academically, but because she had BV herself, couldn't find answers, and spent years building the framework she wished had existed.
Her approach is evidence-based and functional: root-cause, systems-thinking, and useful across the full spectrum of clinical practice.
The BV & AV Clinical Intensive is the program she would have wanted on day one.
