Hi Aunt Vadge,
Basically I noticed two very small paper cut-like tears on the skin near my clitoris. The skin only around the tear seemed white, like old skin, and kinda easy to rub away when trying to clean it.
My vagina had no unusual smell, discharge, pain, burning or anything of that nature. I did notice a slight itch but very mild. The cut kinda just appeared and my clitoris did look more red than normal.
I was out of town at the time so I had to use a non-mild scented soap which irritated it more, but even still, within a few days, they were gone.
A few weeks later only one little cut appeared, and the next day it was almost gone.
Also even before this happened, I noticed an increase in yeast (not in the discharge but like in the folds of labia). No redness of the clitoris this time.
I have no idea what this could be or what could be causing it. At first, I was scared that it could have been herpes, but I didn’t show any other symptoms, and from my research, normally a first outbreak of herpes for someone is very much more noticeable, blister-like and painful and does not heal as fast.
🙁
Sincerely,
Concerned

Dear Concerned,
If you have ongoing yeast between the folds of your labia, you can end up with these sorts of cuts. The yeast infection breaks down your skin a little, so it tears more easily, especially if it goes on for a long time.
Any irritation of your vulvar tissue can show up as little cuts, as the skin is very delicate. While the vulva can take a lot of punishment, certain kinds it just doesn’t like – like infections.
The clitoral hood is fragile in terms of how it is connected to the surrounding tissue, so the corners/edges, where it joins to the labia, can be easily torn if they are already a little fragile. Paper cuts can appear from normal life, due to breakdowns in the skin that, while they quickly clear up, can reappear.
My first suggestion would be to clear up the yeast infection using some of the suggestions on the yeast infections page and see if that helps. If not, write back and we’ll go to step two!
As always, keep the area clean and dry, and apply a little cream or oil to the skin to help keep it supple and flexible as it heals.
Best,
Aunt Vadge
