Using coconut oil as lube

Can I use coconut as lube? Yes! We love coconut as lube. We have a few tips and tricks for you if it feels complicated for some reason.

#1. It’s gross to dunk your dirty sex fingers into the big jar over and over. Don’t do it. Get a small jar too.
Put coconut oil from the big jar into the little jar. Use up the little jar, then wash it out thoroughly with hot water and detergent, and then refill it with fresh, clean coconut oil from the big jar.

This isn’t a perfect system but it minimises the double-dipping that is inevitable.

#2. Coconut oil is a little bit antimicrobial, but it’s not going to damage your healthy flora. It might even be a little bit protective.

If coconut oil makes your vagina (or your partner’s body) feel bad, don’t use it. There is no Every-Person’s Lube that suits all – find a lube that suits your body. There are plenty of options.

#3. Organic coconut oil is cheap! If you think about where coconuts come from, there are never-ending palm trees that pop out coconuts like nobody’s business.

Coconut palms are easy to grow and don’t get a lot of pests or diseases, so it’s no hardship or extra expense to grow organic palm trees. Don’t spend heaps on coconut oil – it’s all the same stuff and generally pretty good quality, but do opt for organic, just because you can.

#4. Coconut oil gets a little slipperier with spit, so if you want to add a layer of extra slip n slide, add some saliva to the situation.

This an oil, so it isn’t as smooth as many other lubes, but it absolutely does the trick and is far superior to no lube or some other options. It’s also waaaay cheaper, smells nice and hasn’t been concocted in a lab.

#5. Don’t use any oil-based lube with latex condoms, as oil degrades latex.

Go crazy with the coconut!
