Manuka honey is extremely stable, able to tolerate exposure to light, air, and heat, and able to be stored for long periods of time without losing its potency.

Safety first, kids!
Some minor stinging may occur initially due to the honey’s acidic nature; however, this should pass.
Do not use if you are allergic to honey or bee products.
Caution if you’re prone to yeast infections – manuka honey vaginally may result in a yeast infection.
If you have a bad reaction to the honey, stop using this treatment.

How to use manuka honey vaginally
Use manuka honey treatments while you sleep, inserted deep vaginally using one of the following options:
- A small syringe
- Capsules
1. Using a syringe
Trying to suck up manuka honey with a syringe at room temperature is a fool’s game, so gently warm the honey – do not microwave, boil, burn or otherwise damage your ingredients.
You can warm the honey by taking out what you need with a spoon, then put it into a glass sitting in hot water until it is runny.
Suck about 5-10ml of the runny honey into the syringe, then use deep vaginally. Remember you want the honey to stay in your vagina, so insert deeply, lie down quick and dress accordingly. You may want to use a panty liner as you sleep.
You can use the syringe method with the four-pronged approach and mix the honey and lactoferrin together, if you want.
2. Using vegetable capsules
You can use the warming technique as per the syringe, and use the syringe to suck up the honey to put it into the capsules. Warm honey will melt gelatin capsules, so only use vegetable capsules with warm ingredients.
If you use the honey cold, use a small tool or the end of a spoon (something small and hard that is like a tiny spoon), scoop the honey into the larger half of the capsule. Use three capsules per dose. Dunk in water before inserting to facilitate dissolving.
Ensure you do a quick finger check each day to remove any undissolved fragments of capsule.
You can use the vegetable capsules with the four-pronged approach, and mix honey with lactulose, lactobacilli and lactoferrin as needed.
Dose and treatment schedule of manuka honey
Use manuka honey inserted deep vaginally before sleep for seven sleeps, then stop and check pH and symptoms. Repeat if pH and symptoms are not quite right.
When to start your manuka honey treatment
If you get regular periods, plan your treatments to start the day you stop bleeding to get the most period-free days possible for treatments. If you get a surprise period during treatment, continue treatments through your period but stop if it’s really heavy, just for practicalities’ sake.
If you don’t get regular periods, start anytime.
When to stop your manuka honey treatments
You’ll be stopping and starting on a weekly basis to check your pH and symptoms. If you stop and your pH is between 4.0 – 4.5 and your symptoms have abated, you can stop treatment and wait and see what happens.
If you stop and your pH is over 4.5 or you still have symptoms, continue treatment for another week.
Remember 4.5 is a respectable pH!
Sex and treatments
You can have sex with a partner who is also being treated with manuka honey, but remember how sticky honey is!
Avoid bareback sex with anyone who is potentially contagious or that you can transmit to and avoid semen in the vagina.
Tips and tricks for using manuka honey vaginally
- Honey is water-soluble, so will wash out of clothing in a normal hot or cold laundry cycle.
- Because of the high cost of high-grade manuka honey, use judiciously
- Use on the vulva or anal area if you have symptoms there. Apply a little on the skin and leave it on for as long as possible.
