Hi Aunt Vadge,
Just turned 31-years-old, four pregnancies, four natural births…. Engaged in a bit of wild fun yesterday (guess he missed me!) and had a fingernail slip on vaginal entry. Now I have a large slice in the skin just under and to the side of the clitoris and urethral opening.
I feel like I have a decent handle on cleaning and general care after having so many children… My concern here is the large skin flap left from the cut. The loose, torn skin piece is slightly triangular in shape, approximately a centimeter in width at the top-attached end and tapering to a point and loose all along the edges to the termination point. The loose flap is approximately an inch in length.
Do I go ahead and remove the loose skin or try to keep it in place in hopes that it will reattach itself? So far, less than 24 hours later, it’s not reattached and decidedly blue/purple in color. Would a picture help? (Lol?)
Sincerely,
Flappy

Hi there Flappy,
My first aid for unseen flappy skin is limited, I have to say, and without seeing it, I am going to suggest if you want to keep your vulva flesh intact, you should get yourself to a clinic ASAP to see if they can put a couple of stitches into it before the skin becomes unsalvageable. It may already be too late.
Skin must be in contact to reattach, and it needs to be a fresh wound because scar tissue starts to form quickly, though even then skin just tends to want to fall off and start again. An inch is a pretty big piece of skin (is he Edward Scissorhands?!), and since it’s been 24 hours the skin may not be in any shape to be reattached, having been without oxygen for so long.
Even if it looks like it’s going to fall off, it’s your call if you want to slice it off or not – as you say, you’ve had enough babies and vagina wounds no doubt and can feel comfortable making that decision.
Damaged skin will naturally want to dry up and fall off, so I would presume that your flappy flap will do the same, meaning it is probably going to be more comfortable for you to get rid of the useless skin and just let it heal, as it will tug on your clothing and be irritating.
Naturally getting the opinion of a professional someone who can actually see what you are dealing with and give you some more solid advice is preferable, so I will defer to your judgement on this one.
Minor cuts and tears can be encouraged to heal well with a moisturising vulva and vagina-friendly cuts cream, but it may be too late for any kind of cream to save you.
I do love that you have asked me this, but I can’t help you I’m sorry!
Warmest regards,
Aunt Vadge
