OBSOLETE Got BV? Science needs you, teenagers!

If you’re not sure what’s happening to your vagina, but have bad smells and unusual discharge, you may have bacterial vaginosis (BV).

Vagina problems can be embarrassing, and you may have never seen a doctor about your vagina before, but ignoring the problem won’t make it go away. Get expert help, free, and be part of science!

Parents, caregivers, aunties, family friends – if you know a teenager who may have BV, please make sure they know about the study and feel comfortable signing up.

Why you should sign up

  • All your medical visits for the study are free
  • Get expert testing – free
  • One vaginal treatment – free
  • Friendly doctors and nurses
  • Be part of science and help women all over the world!

Who can take part in the study

  • Females aged 12-17 with BV or suspected BV (tests will confirm)
  • There are some location and medical requirements – please fill out the form to see the specifics and if they apply to you (it’s short!)

Why do they want teenagers?

Normally when a study is done, regulators want as many age groups as possible to participate so researchers can get a broad idea of how the treatment affects different groups (if there are differences).

That means, for example, having young, middle-aged and old people, pregnant people and different ethnic groups involved in clinical trials.

Most research is not performed on teenagers for lots of reasons. Getting a decent-sized sample group isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to vaginal research.

Dare Bioscience wants to test their BV treatment on as many people as possible across multiple age groups, which requires teenagers to participate – a group not usually included in BV research.
