Klaire Labs has developed InterFase and InterFase Plus to break down pathogenic biofilms in the digestive tract, while sparing many healthy biofilms.
Biofilms can alter the intestinal environment making it difficult or impossible for other beneficial species to get a foothold and develop healthy biofilms.
Healthy bacterial biofilms preserved by InterFase Plus include those of:
- Bifidobacterium bifidum PT131
- Bifidobacterium breve PT132
- Bifidobacterium longum PT136
- Lactobacillus casei PT116
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus PT112
- Lactobacillus salivarius ATCC 29602
Pathogenic bacterial biofilms disrupted include those of:
- Escherichia coli O157:H7
- Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213
- Gardnerella vaginalis ATCC 14018
- Staphylococcus aureus MRSA 399
- Helicobacter pylori ATCC 43504
- Streptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 10015
- Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352
- Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 10096
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853
- Candida albicans SJ2083133
- Clostridium difficile ATCC 9689
- Candida paratropicalis ATCC 99916
How does InterFase work?
InterFase and InterFase Plus have a multitude of enzymes demonstrated in the lab to break down bacterial biofilms from a range of bacteria and fungi, including Candida albicans and Gardnerella vaginalis.
Biofilms require calcium, iron and magnesium to develop, and InterFase Plus includes a special acid (EDTA) that binds the metals, removing them from available resources of the bacteria. Binding interrupts the biofilm creation process.
Iron-deficiency anaemia and InterFase Plus
This binding process interrupts pathogenic bacterial ability to create a biofilm, but could also cause a problem for those who are already suffering low iron.
Many pathogens use iron from our food and can be a trigger for iron-deficient anaemia. Talk to your doctor if this applies to you.
The process could be a bit hard on your body, so care needs to be taken.
How to take InterFase and InterFase Plus
InterFase and InterFase plus are used to support normal gastrointestinal flora and gut function and are best used with a broad, multispecies probiotic formulation and a prebiotic to support normal, healthy colonies and biofilms in the intestine.
InterFase products can be used with other antimicrobials (like antibiotics or herbs).

Does this product work in the vagina?
InterFase is designed to be taken orally and ingested. The enzyme product works throughout your digestive tract but is not absorbed into the bloodstream.
InterFase cannot directly reach the vagina unless used as a douche.
Do not insert InterFase capsules into the vagina, as it is likely to cause irritation.
