Dear Aunt Vadge,
I use the shower pressure to stimulate my clit, but this time I held it too high and it went on the flat skin where pubes grow (I’m not sure what that’s called). Now it’s peeled and bleeding, and it hurts when I touch it or try to masturbate.
Sincerely,
Peeling
England
Dear Peeling,
You’ve managed to give yourself a bit of a friction graze, that’s all – so give the area a proper rest for four or five days and let it heal before you touch it again.
The skin of the mons (that’s the name for the padded area where your pubic hair grows) is delicate, and a strong, concentrated jet of water held against one spot can scuff and peel it, exactly like a graze anywhere else; reassuringly, there’s only so much harm a shower can do, and skin like this heals quickly once it’s left alone.
To help it along, you can dab on a tiny bit of pawpaw ointment or plain coconut or olive oil to keep the peeling skin soft and flexible, but the main thing is just to keep it clean with plain water, pat it dry, and leave it be – no poking, and no masturbating against it until it’s healed.
See a doctor only if it gets more painful, hot, swollen or weepy, or doesn’t heal up in a week or so. Otherwise you’ll be absolutely fine. (And yes – the part where your pubic hair grows is the mons pubis.)
Warmest regards,
Aunt Vadge
